Triple Crown Over – But Good Racing Continues

Thoroughbred racing is always exciting and there are some lucrative races on the schedule for the near future. Not the least of which was run Saturday at Thistle Down Racino. It was the $500,000 Ohio Derby with a number of highly competitive horses in the field, which included War Story, Far Right, Tencendur, Whiskey Ticket, and Mr. Z. It was a thrilling stretch run between Mr. Z and Tencendur with a photo finish. Mr z, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, and once owned by Ahmed Zayat, prevailed and paid $15.60 for a $2.00 win ticket.

Meantime, Ahmed Zayat is trying to decide where to run American Pharoah next. First it appeared that he had his eye on the $1 million William Hill Haskell at Monmouth Park in Zayat’s home state of New Jersey on August 2nd. Now it seems that he may favor taking him to Saratoga for one of two possibilities. Either the Grade II $600,000 Jim Dandy on August 1st, or the Grade I $1.2 million Travers Stakes on August 29th.

A lot of sharp competitive thoroughbreds out there will be competing for some lucrative purses which will make for some thrilling races yet this year. And, of course, we have the breeders cup coming up on October 30th and 31st at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky, the cradle of the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry. And around the corner, the Kentucky Derby on May 7th, 2016. Keep in touch with DerbyTicketsInc.com for all your horse racing tickets and package deals.
