Itsaknockout

Itsaknockout won “The Fountain of Youth Stakes” race Saturday at Gulfstream Park in Florida after the heavily favored horse, Upstart, was disqualified for “impeding” and placed second. It was a major step up in class for the three year old who remained perfect through three starts at Gulfstream after winning by a nose in his debut on December 7th.

Itsaknockout, owned by Kentucky based Starlight Racing and trained by Todd Pletcher, returned $12.80 for a $2.00 wager to win, and now heads for the Florida Derby on March 28th.

The Fountain of Youth Stakes is the final stakes prep to the Florida Derby and an official prep race for the Kentucky Derby. Four horses that won the Fountain of Youth went on to win the Kentucky Derby – Tim Tam (1958), Kauai King (1966), Spectacular Bid (1979), and Thunder Gulch (1995).
