Horse of the Year

Reigning “Horse of the Year”, California Chrome will race Saturday in the $10 million Dubai World Cup, the richest horse race in the world. Chrome, 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, trained by Art Sherman with jockey Victor Espinoza in the saddle, will be in a field of eight at the Meydan racecourse.

Saturday is a big day in Kentucky Derby Prep Races, with the running of the $1 million Florida Derby, the $750,000 Louisiana Derby, and the $2 million UAE Derby. Winners will take home 100 points and even second place will be awarded 40 points. Highlighting the Florida Derby will be the rematch of likely favorites, Upstart and Itsaknockout. Horses to watch in the Louisiana Derby are International Star, War Story, and Mr. Z. Mubtaahij is the probable favorite in the UAE Derby and a win there would make the Kentucky Derby likelihood.
